Position Openings

Postdoctoral positions are available immediately to elucidate the roles of protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) in cellular signaling.

Projects involve:

  • Application of substrate-trapping mutants in combination with mass spectrometry and Biacore biosensor for rapid isolation, identification, and characterization of physiological PTP substrates;
  • Utilization of biochemical and structural techniques to elucidate the molecular basis of PTP substrate recognition and regulation;
  • Development and use of potent and selective small molecule PTP inhibitors to delineate the physiological roles of these enzymes in vivo.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. degree or equivalent with strong background in one or more of the following areas: proteomics (protein separation with 2D-PAGE/HPLC and identification by mass spectrometry), synthetic chemistry, biochemistry/enzymology, molecular and cell biology. Experience in bioinformatics in protein analysis and/or signaling transduction is also desirable. Successful candidates will work in an interdisciplinary environment ranging from synthetic chemistry to molecular and cell biology, enzymology and structural biology.
